Fluorosilicone
Fluorosilicone, a hybrid of silicone and FKM, is a widely utilized synthetic elastomer which offers excellent resistance to petroleum oils, solvent, hydrocarbon fuels, ozone, and weathering. Therefore, it can be used to service a wide range of applications. However, it offers poor resistance to heated air and gases so it should not be used in applications which have such environmental conditions. The mechanical and physical characteristics of fluorosilicone are very similar to that of silicone and it has a usual hardness range of 50-90 Shore A.
Gaskets and O-Rings made from Fluorosilicone are available. COR Manufacturing stock & sell high-quality Fluorosilicone Cord in blue colour. We can supply all standard metric sizes. We stock the following inch sizes:

Advantages
Fluorosilicone is a very clean elastomer which possesses low odour and taste and exhibits superior colour stability. Fluorosilicones offers:
- Wide operating temperatures (-85° F to 350° F)
- Can be used with Jet Fuels and Some Petroleum Oils
- Resistance to Chlorinated Solvents and Oxidizing Chemicals
- Great electrical properties
- Resistance to compression set
- Resistance to ageing, weathering and sunlight
Disadvantages
Some of the limitations of Fluorosilicone Elastomer include:
- Not suitable for dynamic sealing applications
- Poor permeation resistance
- Poor wear resistance
- Not resistant to abrasion
- Limited physical strength
- Not resistant to compounds like brake fluids, amines and ketones
Customization
COR can supply custom Fluorosilicone extrusion profiles in many sizes and shapes. Send us your requirements in a dwg., pdf or even on a napkin, with dimensions and we can try and quote according to your request.
